The realization of human rights and respect for the principle of non-discrimination represent a fundamental value of the Macedonian society.
The reasons for the occurrence of discrimination are found in the still present prejudices against certain social groups or individuals, and these behaviors, sometimes directly, and often indirectly, aim to make divisions and unequal treatment of the citizens based on the different ethnicity, language , gender, belonging to a marginalized group, social background, religious or political belief … or different treatment of individuals and certain groups in the same or similar situations. In this regard, the violation of basic human rights is most notably noticed among the Roma community as the most marginalized group that is most susceptible to discrimination on all grounds.
In the last period (2011-2015), there is a noticeable restriction on the right to move primarily for members of the Roma community.
NGO “KHAM” Delcevo for this problem area focuses on:
1. Increasing the level of awareness of the Roma community and marginalized groups on basic human rights
2. Realizing the right to housing marginalized groups with an emphasis on Roma
3. Promotion of human rights and protection against discrimination on ethnic grounds and racial profiling;
